Stranger Things Season 5 Release Date is officially here. The new episodes may not have started filming yet, but we still have some ideas.
Creators Matt and Ross Duffer, aka the Duffer Brothers, have already hinted that a time jump is likely coming, which makes sense given the growth spurt in the young cast.
Meanwhile, executive producer Shawn Levy has opened up about not wanting the series to outstay its welcome, hinting that a bold, satisfying ending is on the horizon.
“We don’t want to be one of those shows that wobble when it’s looking for a way to get a bill,” he said. “We really want to keep the bill.”
In season four, our Hawkins heroes faced off against Vecna, a powerful foe with a complicated history with Eleven and Dr. Martin Brenner.
The battle turned out to be one of the most challenging yet — and continues in Season 5.
And while Stranger Things Season 5 doesn’t have an exact release date yet, we can use information from previous seasons to figure out when new episodes might arrive

Stranger Things Season 5 Release Date
Considering Stranger Things Season Five hasn’t even started filming yet, it’s safe to assume we’ll have to wait a little longer for the next chapter to arrive.
Due to COVID-related downtime, season 4 filming ended in September 2021 – production originally began in February 2020 – and the first seven episodes were not released until May 2022, eight months after filming had ended.
Before the pandemic, each season usually took six to seven months to shoot. Factor in the lengthy post-VFX work; it will take over a year to complete the season from start to finish.
Therefore, we estimate that Stranger Things Season 5 Release Date will be released at the end of 2023 at the earliest.
Realistically, though, the new season will likely drop in 2024. There were almost two years between Seasons 2 and 3, and that was before the coronavirus disrupted things, so we know the Duffers aren’t afraid to test our patience.
Since this is the last season, they probably want to be successful, which means Season 5 could take even longer.
Is Stranger Things season 5 the last season?
As for Eleven, her friends in Hawkins, and the Upside Down, Stranger Things Season 5 is the final chapter in that story — but that doesn’t mean it’s the last Netflix series set in the Stranger Things universe.
Announcing the impending end of the Netflix show, the Duffer Brothers hinted at a possible sequel: “There are still many exciting stories to be told in the world of Stranger Things.
New mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes.”
“We haven’t told anyone about the idea yet, let alone written it,” they later added. “We think everyone – including Netflix – will be amazed when they hear the concept because it’s very different.
Somehow Finn Wolfhard – one crazy smart kid – guessed right what it was. But besides Finn, no one else knows!” “

Vecna in Stranger Things 4
David Harbor, who plays Jim Hopper, said while promoting Season 4. “So it’s going to be clear and clean and precise. At some point, a definite ending that I can’t really talk about.”
Season 4 ended with each faction—Nevada, Hawkins, and Russia—somewhat unknowingly joining forces to defeat Vecna.
While Max fed his subconscious in Creel House, Robin, Steve and Nancy ignited his defenceless physical form in the Upside Down.
Elsewhere, Mike and Will put Eleven in a temporary sensory impairment pool, and her mind finds its way into Max to help her face the big bad. But as Will points out at the end of episode 9, Vecna is far from dead.
